Topic: Range Finder

There IS a range finder in Reality Mod. The weapon specialist class can get hold of it. It's built into the target designator...now that's an odd player loadout dont you think? I would have thought that being a weapon specy you would be specialized in all weapons...cept for a reliable old bolt action it seems.? The sniper class should at least allow an option for the target dessy...what do they get instead?...a simple choise between a parasho00oot or a claymore. Dun get me wrong gentlemen it's not a putdown, i guessed the whole concept of the Joint Operations game from the start is all about fundamental team work. It's even in the games name...otherwise the game would have probabley been called..."Solo Operations". lol. Well the good news is i just got to tested all my targets range distance for integrity with my newly found designator and i have done quite well it seems. Ive posted my map on filefront as well, someone from there site has to check it first before you can get hold of it. Of course you dont need my rifle range map now we know we can find our range again. I'd better make an AAS version of it as well then.

I am suprised by the distance that Shotty slug goes... i don't think i ve ever use one in the game before, i will have to start to now though, they are kinda fun to shoot.

Now for the bad news...and the bad news is, i tested the parashhhoo00oot on various targets all over my map...zippo.

Well, I didn't think I was a spazz..... how can it have an effect on any targets........what do you mean???  You're not being very clear?? We're always interested to hear of any defects, or concerns. Your thoughts may even prompt a modification.

I will try to be clearer.

When i jumped off the lookout tower onto the target with the parashoot. It did NO damage to the target. It carnt do any damage to the targets. Well, not that i could see anyway. Psychologicaly, i may have damaged the target, in my own mind. but in reality, i doubt it.
If i jumped on a target like that in real life it would prolly damage me instead!

I stopped testin the parashoot as a weapon on targets awhile back bro.

Must have been drinking when i wrote the first entry and put the final bit in about the parashoot down to lightin things up a bit...

Welcome to JO's "amazing" engine.. big_smile haha im sure GB will look into this, but I do not think there was ever an intention of adding this as the para was part of an expansion not a full on changing of the engine.

I never thought of a parachute as a weapon, not sure I ever would have.  big_smile   Don't think I'll bother to 'look' into it either, as I'm sure there are a million other things to modify/improve.  I have three irons in the fire at the moment (so as to speak) and I'm gonna have a final search for useable registers (things that allow models to be dynamic) between now and xmas, and if I cant find any, that'll be the new helo shelved, and I'll go back to the tank.

On a happy note, I spoke to Viking recently, and he's happy to allow me to continue with the LPD, which I've already got drivable in game, but I think first I'll check out available registers for boats.
